Subluxation, do you remember that word? Yes, it’s a weird word, but
everything we do in our office is designed to detect and correct subluxations.
So, your next question is probably why? Well, fair enough. To start, let’s break down
the word: Subluxation
Sub – less
lux – light or energy
ation - a state
So, we have a state of less energy. Not good right? And then to get further into it, we know from science that
our brain and our nervous system control and coordinate every function of our body, right? Our brain tells every cell, every tissue, every organ what to do. And every cell, tissue, and organ relay messages back to the
brain about what’s going on.
Our brain is protected by our skull, in adults our skull doesn’t really move. Our spinal cord is protected by
24 moveable bones called vertebrae. These bones are designed to protect us, but also allow us to move. These
bones sometimes get locked up. We’ll get into how later. But when they lock up, they put pressure on our nerves. A simple example is a garden hose, kink the hose, no water comes out. Unkink the hose, the water flows freely.
So when the bones are locked up, or subluxated, there is pressure on our nervous system. Whenever there is
pressure on a nerve, where ever that nerve goes to in our body, it can be affected. This can result in things that
we can feel, like aches, pains, and discomfort. But more damaging are the things that we can’t feel, like decreased function in vital organs, for example our heart, lungs, and digestive tract, etc.
This is why chiropractors look to the spine. When we decrease or remove subluxations by a specific
chiropractic adjustment, we are improving how your body functions. This leads to a higher state of energy
and an increase in your body’s ability to heal itself. As a chiropractor, we don’t do the healing, your body does.
We simply remove subluxations, which decreases nerve interference. Your body is now able to function
the way it was designed to and start the process of healing.
